#110: A Lot Of Cartoons In This One

Hello dear readers!

The busy times have continued here at Penflower Ink HQ. More art, more commissions – as well some family health-related stress. I won’t get into the latter, as at time of writing things are looking up.
As for the former, well… let’s have a look!

New Video: Another Albo inspired Character Design!

Last week I was so inspired by my recent experiments with Albo character designs, that I went so far as to make a video on one. After two months since my last video, I felt my return to YouTube merited an extra special intro. That meant making a short animated sequence, featuring myself as a mouse getting distracted from book-writing by the idea for Albo.

In the video I also discuss my attempts at approaching creative projects in a healthier way. A major point is making an effort to enjoy the creative process and not stress over whether or not I get a good result (or any result at all!). You can watch the video below.

Commission & Asset Pack: Extra Spaces!

About a year ago – if I remember correctly – I was approached by a fellow who needed an expansion to my Modular Tavern asset pack. They needed a very varied range of new assets to construct a guildhall building for a pack of goblins.

Last week, I received the final complete list of over 100 assets required, and was able to begin work. The client specified that they had no problem with me selling the assets on my website as a new hexmap expansion.
So, if you need to put together an isometric map of an office, a workshop, a flea market, a dance floor – or assorted other spaces – check out the expansion pack HERE.

Pictured above: some examples of the types of rooms and environments you can create using the expansion.

Another Commission: TTRPG Illustrations!

I was also commissioned to make new art for another client’s solo TTRPG. I got to practice my black and white shading and texturing techniques for these, which was fun! You can see photos of two of the pieces I did below:

Personal Project: Toon Pals!

A few months ago, some friends, my wife and I were discussing what animals we would be. The other day I remembered that conversation and felt like making some art. Below is a group portrait of our friend group as cartoon animals (that’s my wife and I at the right-hand end of the line-up!).

Media Spotlight!

That’s all for this issue!

As always, thank you so much for reading.
