#112: News… On The March!
Hello dear readers!
As per my contractual obligation as an ex-film student, I must make the following film reference:
Ahem. It’s News… on the March!*
Now that’s out of the way, let’s have a look at what’s new since the last issue!
Albo Nears Completion: More Art for Albo!
I’ve been busy getting a layout set up for ALBO.
My plan is to make it a print-on-demand zine, with a handmade aesthetic.
This has involved a first attempt doing the whole thing by hand. While my handwriting is legible, the amount of scribbling was starting to give me a bit of a headache.
So instead I created a couple of new fonts based on my handwritten lettering. This way I feel the process can be more precise, but it doesn’t lose the hand-made feel.
I’ve also been making illustrations for the book, which I have designed to look like stickers.
The whole thing will be in black and white because I’d like the zine to double as a colouring-in book as well!
Below is a bunch of photos of the pages I have laid out and illustrated so far.

Yar-har, it’s Maaarch: Pirate-themed Art Assets!
As regular readers will know, I have been publishing monthly sets of art assets over on my Patreon for just over a year now. This month’s theme – as voted for by my Patrons – is Pirates!
Below is a little showcase of some of the ‘Pirate Equipment’ assets available for $5-and-up Patrons.
Avast! There’s also a character vignette asset for the $1 tier.

Leaving Discord: Building an Alternative!
Following my reflections on Discord and Discord-clones in my last issue, I have decided to step away from that platform. I’ve reached out to friends and peers I want to stay in touch with and have found a solution to make that possible outside of Discord.
I have also taken my first tentative steps in learning HTML, and am slowly building a neocities website. It’s a just a landing page at the moment, but I’m hopeful I can add a forum functionality.
If/when I can do that, I’ll be sharing the link here.
New Passkey Game: Midnight in Jubilation!
Some time ago I was contacted by Dorian Blackwood. They let me know they were developing a solo horror TTRPG based on my Passkey System (and more specifically the solo rules expansion by Peter Eijk.
Well, it’s my pleasure to announce that Midnight in Jubilation is now crowdfunding over on backerkit!

“Midnight in Jubilation is an urban horror RPG for solo journalling. You will play as the newest overnight radio presenter in a small, strange town called Jubilation. You’ll be taking unsettling calls at the Radio Station, helping to decide what makes up the nightly broadcast, while attempting to survive for as long as possible.
If you’re lucky, you might even live long enough to find out what happened to Jubilation’s last overnight presenter.”
You can support the game on Backerkit or download a free preview of the game over on itch.io!
TTRPG Charity Bundles: No ICE & Trans Rights!
The No ICE in Minnesota charity bundle hosted by jesthehuman has now raised $600.000!
This already an extraordinarily big amount and the next goal has been set at 700k.
You can support the bundle HERE.
Another great bundle, this time raising funds for Trans Rights in Idaho, is being hosted by Rue (ilanalight) and just went live! Check it out and support it HERE.
Media Spotlight!
- Another Cartoon Cartoon short (and probably one of my favourites so far): Button’s Gamezone!
- Skatune Networks’ Ska-Core cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name of”.
- Check out Weird Place’s Zine Month Showcase, featuring lots of great TTRPG-scene guests!
- Fathom’s latest video is on Kate Bush’ “Wuthering Heights”.
- A beautiful teaser trailer for Cartoon Saloon’s new animated film, Kindred Spirits. It’s inspired by the generosity and solidarity shown by the Choctaw Nation towards the Irish people during the famine of 1847.
- And last but not least, some Positive Leftist News from February!
That’s all for this issue!
As always, thank you so much for reading.
